Research directions
★Direction 1 — Retinal image processing and analysis |
The retina is a complex layered structure. Many important eye diseases as well as systemic diseases manifest themselves in the retina. Multi-modality retinal image analysis combines the information from 2-D fundus and 3-D OCT
images to detect different tissues, vessels and abnormalities in the retina. Segmentation, registration and classification methods are involved.

★Direction 2 — CT and PET image processing and analysis |
CT and PET are two commonly used imaging technologies for effective cancer assessment in clinic. Automated multiple organ segmentation in CT image, multi-modality tumor segmentation in PET-CT image, as well as tumor growing and prediction are studied.

★Direction 3 — Optical Instruments Development |
Optical coherence tomography has emerged as one of the new optical imaging modalities for noninvasive detection of human diseases in various organs. In particular, OCT has found the most successful application in retinal disease diagnostics. Recently, functional OCT imaging is attracting more and more interests in biomedical applications. |
